In 2007, Lyn Gardner (a founder member of the City Limits cooperative where she edited the theatre section, before joining The Guardian) wrote a pretty interesting short review on The Guardian’s Blog about fresh growth in theatre and performance programmes across the UK.
Going through the blog’s archives, my eyes were caught by this image’s caption, where she describes: “Ron Athey, a man at the pinnacle of his career”.
Ron Athey‘s interdisciplinary practice examining the positioning and relationship between performer and audience, questioning notions of true/fictional and performed self, otherness, difference, gender, sexuality, love and the politics of the body in relation to culture and power, I’m pretty sure he’d have something clever to retort to such a declaration.
